4 Journal Prompts To Help You Get Clear About What You Want
clarity
The following journal prompts are from my upcoming book, Write Your Life. Use them any time you need to be alone with the page and work through something specific, or as prompts for your Morning Pages.
1. what do you really want?
A new home? A romantic relationship? A new friend who really gets you? Routine? Structured space and time for creative self-expression? A completed project in your hands? To move your body and dance? To have a reason to get out of bed every morning? Get honest with yourself. Don’t let your mind get carried away by all the reasons you can’t have what you want. Decide now that you can. Let every desire flow out of you and onto the page.
2. go deeper
What did you leave out? What felt too big or too trivial to want? If you could have anything you wanted and no one would be mad at you, then what would you want?
3. WHAT WOULD YOU WANT AFTER THAT?
Often, we can only see what’s right in front of us. Look beyond the things you want immediately. Imagine you already have them. Then, imagine what you would want after that. This is helpful to go bigger picture and give yourself a bird’s eye view of the life you desire to create. Then, once you come back to your current reality, the actions you need to take to get there seem a lot simpler all of a sudden.
4. IF YOU COULD HAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT?
Today, right now. This moment. Where would you be? What would you be doing? Who would you be with? What would you have accomplished? How would you feel?
